Every year it seems attention is drawn deeper into the realm of the more superficial aspects of the season: decorations, lights, Christmas refreshments, programs, etc. While these things are enjoyable and exciting, I have often pondered what it would be like to celebrate the Joy of the season, Jesus, without all of the extras, focusing our attention completely on adoring Him.

Jesus saw the widow of Nain and felt the magnitude of her loss. She had no husband to protect her and now no son to provide for her. Would the Lord have been good if it had rained that day? Of course. Would Lyndsay and Joseph have survived (like hundreds of others) if it rained on their outdoor wedding? Definitely. Those are the easy questions. Here is the hard question. Why can’t I apply that same level of trust to other areas of my life?…We need to talk to Him. Then wait and trust. Trust in the God we love and serve, the God of the universe.
