God’s Unique Path for Your Life

Recently, I attended a job interview for a position I had wanted for a long time. Even though I performed very well in the first round, for reasons beyond my control, I didn’t move on to the second round. On May 21, 2024, at 11 a.m., I received one of the worst pieces of news in my life—I didn’t pass the bar exam to practice law in Puerto Rico. With that news, dreams, opportunities, and plans faded away and an unfamiliar journey began—one I am still walking through and one that has cost me deeply.

By September 2024, I stopped talking to the person who had been my best friend since seventh grade, and I still don’t know what happened. On August 23, 2021, my family was struck by the death of my uncle, who passed away suddenly even though we had been together just two days earlier and everything seemed fine.

As is evident, I carry a great deal of pain in my heart. Despite the events listed here, and others I chose not to mention, the Lord has filled my life with His love, His faithfulness, and His goodness. Each of these experiences has been different, but they all share something in common—they have confronted me with the reality of what I can’t control.

In this turbulent season, God has been my constant, my rock. I would be lying if I said I have never fallen into comparing myself with others, because I have often felt like I haven’t been able to “start” my life. In such moments, my mind becomes clouded with endless thoughts that all echo the same question: What am I going to do? However, I continually remind myself that each of us has a unique path to walk hand-in-hand with God, who has absolute control over our lives. Each of us is a unique design crafted by the Creator of heaven and earth. No matter what we are going through, the Lord cares for each of us in every circumstance we have lived, are living, and will live.

One of my favorite psalms is Psalm 77. The psalmist begins by expressing his heart: he feels distressed, troubled, and confused, just to name a few. He even questions whether God has forgotten him. But after pouring out his heart, the psalmist begins to remember the mighty works of God and starts to worship His name.

Dear reader, the path you are walking is part of a unique journey your Potter has crafted for you. You have purpose in Him. It is time to dry your tears, take a deep breath, lift your head, remember the wonders, promises, and works of God in your life, and allow Him to continue shaping His masterpiece with a unique design that He is creating in you. Let yourself be molded and lift your voice to worship and bless the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
