Who We Are and What We Believe


Course Objectives:

The student will understand the origins of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and its historical affects on doctrine and ministry with a closer look at its distinctives. The student will also understand the organizational structure of the C&MA.

Course Outline:

I. Historical perspective
II. Doctrinal distinctives
III. Organizational structure


Required Textbook:

A Movement for God: An Introduction to the History and Thought of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. 1999. Colorado Springs: The Christian and Missionary Alliance. (This can be purchased at www.cmalliance.org. Follow links on left side of page and go to US Ministries --> Leadership Training. On the right side of the page, click on Academy Resources under Leadership Academy.)

Course Requirements:

A. Pre-session Requirements:
  1. Student will purchase the required textbook and will read the first two chapters.
  2. Student will also read the C&MA Statement of Faith. (This can be found at www.cmalliance.org on Who We Are.)


B. Post Session Requirements:
  1. Student will complete the reading of the textbook.
  2. A 2-3 page paper will be due after the session. Topics for the paper will be discussed in class.



Women's Leadership Studies

Principal Objectives of Alliance Women Ministries


Course Objectives:

The student will participate in an in-depth study of AWM objectives and how they align with the vision and mission of the C&MA. The student will also learn to align the women's ministry to the mission statement of the local church.

Course Outline:

I. Women's ministries as it relates to our denomination historically
II. Women's ministries as it relates to the local church
III. Women's ministries as it relates to the women of the local church


Required Textbook: None

Course Requirements:

A. Pre-session Requirements:
Student will obtain a copy of the mission statement of her local church.

B. Post Session Requirements:
Student will design a one year plan for women’s ministries in her local church that aligns with that church's mission statement.
